Report what changed during the shift
Capture planned and actual output, scrap, downtime, holds, unresolved actions, safety or quality events, and the next shift handoff in a report people can trace back to the production order.
A useful production report explains the result, the loss, the response, and the inherited work—not only total units at the end of the day.

- Header
Shift and operating context
Date, shift, site, line, work center, supervisor, reporting window, and source order.
- Result
Plan and output
Planned quantity, good output, scrap, rework, remaining quantity, and attainment.
- Loss
Downtime and hold detail
Event category, start, end, duration, reason, affected operation, and evidence.
- Handoff
Open work for the next shift
Issue, impact, next action, owner, due time, status, and receiving acknowledgement.
Make the report useful to the next person
The report should support action at handoff and learning after the fact.
- Output
What did the shift produce?
Show good quantity against plan and identify the orders or operations that explain the result.
- Loss
What interrupted the plan?
Separate scrap, downtime, holds, shortages, changeovers, and missing information.
- Response
What did the team do?
Record containment, recovery, escalation, owner, decision, and current outcome.
- Handoff
What remains unresolved?
Give the next shift a dated action and the context needed to continue safely.
Prevent a polished report from hiding weak source data
Make each total traceable and each exception actionable.
Use one event definition
Define when downtime, scrap, rework, hold, and completion begin and end.
Retain source identifiers
Keep the order, item, operation, work center, event, and shift IDs behind every summary.
Record missing data explicitly
Distinguish zero from unknown, not applicable, and not yet reported.
Close the action loop
Require owner, due time, status, outcome, and verification for unresolved exceptions.
Remove the daily reconstruction step
The change is operational: capture work during the shift and generate the review from connected records.
- Spreadsheet routine
Collect and reconcile
Supervisors copy counts, messages, downtime notes, and action updates into a daily file.
- Jodoo routine
Capture once and review
Role-based forms update the order, event, exception, handoff, and dashboard records as work happens.
Design the report around the handoff
The reporting period matters less than the quality of the underlying records.
What should a daily production report include?
Include reporting context, production plan, good output, scrap or rework, downtime, holds, safety or quality events, explanations, open actions, ownership, and handoff status.
What is the difference between a production report and dashboard?
A report preserves results and narrative for a period. A dashboard highlights current or trending signals. Both should link to the same underlying records where possible.
Can operators submit updates on mobile?
Yes. A Jodoo form can present the relevant order and controlled event choices on mobile, with evidence and role-based follow-up.
Should the report include OEE?
Only when the availability, performance, and quality inputs are consistently defined and trustworthy. Do not add an OEE percentage merely because it is common in manufacturing reports.
Connect shift reporting to orders, events, blockers, and follow-up
See where daily and shift reports receive their data, which decisions they trigger, and how unresolved work reaches the next owner.
Capture production events once and keep the next action visible
Use the Jodoo app when reporting depends on multiple roles, current records, reminders, permissions, and accountable exception follow-up.
