Raw materials before and during production
Supplier lots, receipts, QC release or hold, locations, usable quantity, reorder risk, issues, and shortages.
Track incoming material lots, quality status, storage, usable stock, consumption, reorder risk, and shortages before they interrupt production.
For materials, procurement, quality, warehouse, and production teams that need one owner and one record for every material exception.
Review the working lot, shortage, reorder, quality-hold, and expiry records before adapting the app. Open the working raw material inventory app, test one lot from receipt to issue, then adapt fields, views, roles, and exception rules for your team.

Raw material inventory management software tracks the inputs a production team has received, inspected, stored, reserved, issued, or placed on hold. A usable record connects each material and lot to its supplier, location, quantity, unit, quality status, production demand, and exception owner.

This page focuses on incoming and usable production materials. The broader manufacturing inventory page covers the complete plant inventory flow.
Supplier lots, receipts, QC release or hold, locations, usable quantity, reorder risk, issues, and shortages.
Raw materials, components, work orders, movements, WIP, finished goods, and plant-level inventory exceptions.
Open manufacturing inventory management →Record the material code, supplier, supplier lot, received quantity, unit, date, and receiving evidence.
Keep inspection status, reason, evidence, reviewer, and disposition visible before production can use the material.
Assign site, zone, rack, bin, quantity, unit, and any storage or expiry constraints.
Connect usable quantity to the production order, requirement date, and reservation owner.
Write the quantity issued, production context, operator, timestamp, and remaining balance.
Route low stock, QC holds, expiry risk, and count differences to an owner with a due date and closeout evidence.
| Record group | Required fields | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Material identity | Material code, name, category, specification, unit | Prevents similar materials or incompatible units from being mixed |
| Supply identity | Supplier, supplier lot, receipt, purchase-order reference | Supports supplier follow-up and inbound traceability |
| Lot condition | Internal lot, QC status, expiry or retest date, evidence | Separates usable, held, rejected, and time-sensitive material |
| Physical position | Site, warehouse, zone, rack, bin | Makes quantity physically findable and countable |
| Quantity state | On hand, on hold, reserved, available, reorder point | Prevents held or committed stock from being treated as usable |
| Production context | Production order, required date, issue quantity, shortage owner | Connects material risk to the production work it can delay |

A dashboard only helps when each signal has a calculation, an owner, and a next action.
| Signal | Calculation or condition | Required action |
|---|---|---|
| Available for production | On hand − QC hold − reserved | Release the lot only when identity, location, and QC status are complete |
| Below reorder point | Projected available < reorder point | Assign the replenishment decision, supplier follow-up, and required-by date |
| Production shortage | Required quantity > usable quantity before need date | Link the shortage to the production order and escalate one accountable owner |
| Quality hold | Inspection blocks some or all lot quantity | Exclude held quantity from usable stock until disposition is approved |
| Expiry or retest risk | Lot expires before expected consumption | Prioritize, retest, return, or dispose with evidence and ownership |
Confirm the operating record, the calculation, and the system of record for each requirement before choosing or configuring a platform.
| Requirement | What to verify | Jodoo fit or boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Supplier lead time and inbound supply | Required-by date, supplier lead time, open-order quantity, expected receipt | Track the operational follow-up in Jodoo; keep purchasing commitments in the procurement or ERP system of record. |
| Purchase and production units | Purchase unit, issue unit, conversion factor, rounding rule | Configure the working fields and calculation; validate costing and planning conversions in ERP or MRP. |
| Receiving tolerance | Ordered, received, accepted, rejected, and tolerance quantities | Route quantity or quality exceptions to an owner before the lot becomes available. |
| Lot, expiry, and retest traceability | Supplier lot, internal lot, receipt, expiry or retest date, QC disposition | Keep each lot searchable and exclude held, rejected, expired, or untested quantity from usable stock. |
| Production demand and reservations | Production order, need date, reserved quantity, projected availability | Use Jodoo for visible ownership and exception follow-up; use MRP for automated BOM explosion and supply planning. |
| System ownership and integration | Item master, valuation, BOM, transaction owner, sync direction and frequency | Decide which system owns each record before launch so users do not maintain conflicting inventory truth. |
Production requirements fully covered ÷ total requirements × 100Shows whether usable material is ready when production needs it.
Lots with matched physical and system quantity ÷ lots counted × 100Separates record quality from total stock value.
Current time − hold opened timeExposes material that is physically present but unavailable.
Shortage closed time − shortage opened timeMeasures how quickly procurement, quality, and production resolve risk.
Lots with required supplier, receipt, QC, location, and issue links ÷ lots reviewed × 100Checks whether a lot can be followed from receipt to consumption.
Replenishment action time − reorder trigger timeShows whether low-stock signals result in timely action.
Walk a supplier lot through receipt, QC, storage, reservation, issue, shortage, and closeout. Record the owner, required evidence, and result for every handoff.
Raw material inventory management software tracks production inputs from supplier receipt through inspection, storage, reservation, consumption, and exception closeout. It connects material and lot identity to quantity, unit, location, quality status, demand, and ownership.
Raw material inventory focuses on inputs before and during production: supplier lots, receipts, quality status, storage, usable quantity, reservations, issues, and shortages. Manufacturing inventory is broader and can also include components, work in process, finished goods, work orders, and plant-wide stock movements.
At minimum, keep material code, name, unit, supplier, supplier lot, internal lot, receipt reference, location, on-hand quantity, held quantity, reserved quantity, quality status, reorder point, production-order context, owner, and timestamps. Add expiry, retest, specification, or evidence fields when the material requires them.
Held or rejected quantity should remain visible but be excluded from usable stock. The hold record should show the affected lot and quantity, reason, evidence, reviewer, opened time, disposition, and release or closeout decision.
A simple trigger compares projected usable quantity with the reorder point and expected demand before the next replenishment can arrive. The decision should also consider supplier lead time, safety stock, open orders, reservations, quality holds, and expiry risk.
Jodoo can provide configurable material records, reviews, ownership, reminders, exception workflows, and dashboards. Keep a specialist ERP or MRP for financial valuation, BOM planning, purchasing, and production scheduling; a WMS for directed warehouse execution; and a validated QMS for regulated quality or genealogy requirements.
Open the app, review the lot, shortage, reorder, quality-hold, and expiry records, then adapt the fields, owners, and rules to your materials process.
