A clear request gives the reviewer a useful starting point

Compare “please review this urgently” with a request that explains the business decision. The following fictional example describes the work without assuming that intake acceptance authorizes the transaction.

Request and desired outcome

Sales needs review of a proposed West Region distribution agreement. The team asks legal to review liability and renewal terms before commercial approval. The request identifies Pinebridge Distribution as the counterparty and states the expected commercial value.

Date and business context

The commercial team expects to respond by 26 October. It supplies the proposed agreement and commercial summary, explains the new reseller relationship, and identifies the terms already discussed. The requested date is a business commitment, not a calculated legal deadline.

What happens if information is missing

If the commercial summary is absent, the reviewer returns the same request with a clear explanation. Sales adds the summary and resubmits. The review decision and correction history remain connected, instead of becoming a second disconnected email thread.

Show extra questions only when they are relevant

Commercial agreements

Ask for the counterparty and relevant commercial context. A contract value can help the team understand scale, but it should not replace a clear description of the question or be treated as an automatic risk judgment.

Employment questions

Ask for the process question and the context needed to route it. Do not encourage people to paste unnecessary personal or medical detail into a broadly visible form. Define an approved restricted channel for sensitive supporting material.

Policy reviews

Identify the policy title or revision, proposed change and affected teams. A request to review a policy without a draft or business owner usually needs clarification before a reviewer can provide useful comments.

Tell requesters what happens after they submit

01

A named reviewer checks the request

The request enters the intake queue. A reviewer checks completeness and whether the work belongs in the legal service. An urgent label does not bypass that check; the reason for urgency should help the team prioritize.

02

Missing information returns to the requester

Use the built-in return action with a specific explanation. The requester corrects and resubmits the record. They cannot set the accept or decline decision in the start step.

03

Accepted work gets an owner

Record who will handle the work and decide whether it needs a matter. Acceptance means legal will handle the request. Any commercial, contract or other business approval remains a separate decision with its own authority.

Adapt the form to your internal legal service

Use Jodoo to change the request choices, fields and review path without writing code. Begin with the few categories business teams understand. Add a question because it changes routing, completeness or the next decision—not because every possible detail might someday be useful.

Test the form with real requesters using fictional material first. Can they choose a category, understand the requested outcome field and identify the correct supporting document? Ask the reviewer whether the submission is sufficient to begin. Improve the questions that caused confusion before adding more fields.

The example is a starting point for internal business requests. Configure installed permissions, file handling and retention to your requirements before collecting real legal information. It does not provide legal advice, engagement checks or a law-firm client onboarding process.

Questions about legal request form

Can I change the request categories?

Yes. Adapt the category choices and the conditional questions in the installed Jodoo form. Show only the questions that help someone explain that kind of request.

Should requesters choose their own reviewer?

The example demonstrates member-based reviewer assignment. For your legal service, decide whether an intake coordinator, a category rule or another approved mechanism should resolve the reviewer. Configure that mechanism rather than allowing an arbitrary reviewer choice to bypass your service model.

Can a request include attachments?

The form includes supporting-file entry. Define which materials are necessary and where restricted documents should be stored. Check file limits, permissions and the review experience in your installed app before using it for real matters.

Is this a downloadable legal advice template?

No. It is a configurable request form for asking an internal legal team to review a business question. It does not supply legal advice or decide whether the underlying transaction should proceed.
